European Forces Swim League
The European Forces Swim League (EFSL) was formed to serve the needs of U.S. and NATO Military Forces throughout Europe. Teams within the EFSL all share the common goal to provide a program of competitive swimming on the local level and a healthy environment in which our children can grow emotionally and physically.
Although higher levels of competition are the interests of some, the league seeks to provide a strong foundation for those swimmers who receive their introduction to competitive swimming through the local team and will continue into higher levels of swimming excellence.
Swimmers between the ages of 6 and 19 who are U.S. military, Allied Armed Forces and civilian ID card holders are eligible to participate with the Naples Tiger Sharks.
The EFSL Swim Season begins in August and ends in late February or early March. Swimmers are encourage to participate in as many meets as possible -- seeing Europe pool by pool.
The Naples Tiger Sharks are part of the EFSL Southern Division which also includes teams from Aviano, Lisbon, Rota, Sigonella, and Vicenza. Each January/Februaury we compete against the other teams in our division for the team championship. All swimmers are encouraged to participate. The Naples Tiger Sharks won the Divisional Championship in 2006 thru 2020. The Naples Tiger Sharks also won the European Long Distance Championships in 2013 and 2014, and were the EFSL Champions in 2014.
Championships are held every year in late February or early March. At Champs, the Naples Tiger Sharks swimmers will swim against swimmers from all four of the EFSL divisions.
Swimmers must qualify to go to Championships. To qualify, a swimmer must have participated in at least four sanctioned EFSL swim meets, and have earned a qualifying time in at least one event.
